Important declaration regarding data protection
We take data protection very seriously. It goes without saying that we treat your personal data according to the regulations of Swiss data protection laws, specifically the Federal Data Protection Act (FADP) and the related ordinance (OFADP). The database we use has been registered with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. The following is to explain how we process personal data.
This declaration regarding data protection applies to the Tel.ch website operated by Tel.ch AG, including referring URLs. It does not apply to the websites of other operators, even though these may be linked to our website or refer to it. Please check the notices and conditions of such operators.
For which purpose do we process data and who gets access?
We offer a public and free internet-accessible telephone and address directory with access and search functionality.
What kind of data do we process?
The database we use comprises address data, such as postal addresses, telecommunications connections such as phone, mobile phone, and fax numbers and further data included in published phone, address, and classified directories. We continually obtain data from databases operated by third parties who gather these data for the purpose of publishing them in such phone, address, and classified directories.
We may store and process data which are generated by your visit to our website; however this is not in any way pertaining to your person; i.e. these data cannot be traced back to you. These data are merely used for statistical purposes and for the improvement of our service. For this purpose we also use cookies, which are anonymously acting software applications that enhance the usability of our website.
Are advertising-block flags * honoured?
Should an advertising-block notice (flag: *) be made while registering with such a directory, it shall be carried over by us without modification. If this symbol is not showing when it should be, please use the procedure for corrections (see below). We cannot be made responsible for the failure of third parties to honour such an advertising block.
Please note that addresses carrying an advertising-block flag * are not automatically added to lists maintained by industry associations for the purpose of excluding certain addresses from use for the sending of addressed advertising mail or door-to-door visits (direct sales) (e.g. the so-called «Robinson lists» of the Swiss direct marketing association). If you wish to have an entry on such a list, you are requested to apply for it yourself.
Which data protection provisions apply to users of the website?
We advise the user of our services that every further use by them of the information obtained from us is subject to data protection laws and the user is responsible for adhering to them.
Additionally, we offer our services only under the condition that the user accepts our terms and conditions.
Can you check whether your data are being processed by us?
You can easily check for yourself, via a directory query, whether your data are being used by us and if so, which data. In principle we do not process any personal data concerning persons listed in our directory, other than those accessible via a directory query.
Can you ask for incorrect data regarding your person to be corrected?
We endeavour, in collaboration with the owners of the databases used by us, to avoid incorrect entries. Unfortunately such entries cannot be completely avoided.
Modify entry
For correction requests we ask that you use the entry mask you can access here. Your entry will be forwarded to the owners of the database from whom we have retrieved the respective data. We kindly ask for your understanding with respect to the fact that the correction of the data must be performed by them and may take some time. We reserve the right for ourselves or the owners of the database to contact you to verify the authenticity of the correction request in a suitable manner (e.g. by asking for a copy of an identification document), before a correction is executed.
We cannot assume any further responsibility, including for our data providers, for incorrect, incomplete or out-of-date data.
Do enquiries or corrections incur a charge?
Enquiries and corrections can be performed by you, simply and free-of-charge by a directory query and/or by your entry in the correction mask.
We reserve the right, however, to charge a flat fee of CHF 300. for the processing of enquiries or correction requests that have been made without a valid reason, especially made in a way other than specified, for data amendments going beyond the correction of errors, and for multiple enquiries within 12 months regarding data that have remained unchanged in that time.
Will your data be passed on to countries outside Switzerland?
According to Swiss data protection law, the publishing of data on the internet does not represent a «transmission to foreign countries». Apart from that, in principle we do not transfer data to other countries. We reserve the right, in accordance with data protection law, to transmit data to service providers or company departments for the purpose of technical processing, in countries (especially in the EU) where the law or contractual obligations provide for adequate protection of your data.
